How To Set Up Nexillumi Led Lights

I wanted to get some cool lighting for my YouTube Aqueduct Videos, something that would be subtle, change colors and requite some different atmosphere to my studio.  The NEXillumi LED Strip Lights looked like they might work well for that purpose.

My YouTube Channel is new, so my ideas are pretty fluid, and even now, I'm not 100% sure how these lights fit in to my channel's theme or videos.  But, they are a cool gadget!  So I'g doing a review of them!

In this review, I'll cover their installation, basic usage and I'll post an unbox video on my aqueduct, finally I'll explain to y'all the primal pitfalls I discovered during the installation process.

I had to read the installation instructions a couple of times earlier I started the install.  Why?

When you beginning wait at the materials, you lot might remember, "wow, these are electric components. This is a poorly labeled document and it's critical to getting your installation correct! The pictures are important and take time to sink in, but know this most these items – if you don't follow these steps, the lights with either not piece of work, or piece of work incorrectly (ie. colors won't follow the colors shown on the remote).

These steps are mostly talking about how to use the corner connectors.

1. You must use your fingernail or like to remove the tape from the section of tape that will exist inserted into the corner connector.

You must cut the LED Light Strip at the indicated location!  Failure to do and then will result in the lights working, but incorrectly!  For case, yous might measure the required length at 67 inches, but when you go to cut the LED strip, the cutting line might be at 70 inches or 65 inches.  You must choose between the 65 or the 70, you lot cannot randomly cutting the light strip at 67 (unless that is exactly the cut line.)

Cutting the LED light strip on the line, and employ the corner connector to accommodate for the gap.  The corner connectors tin compress or extend within a range of most an inch to accommodate the imprecision of the cut lines.

iii & 4 are self explanatory.  It's useful to know on #4 that inserting the LED light strip into the corner connector is easy.  Closing the lid on the corner connector holds the strip in place.

5. Check the polarity.  This is disquisitional.  You must install the strips to line up exactly matched polarity.  You lot could mistakenly install a strip backwards, but the lights won't piece of work.  This is also noted in the "Important Notation" section.

6. Install Correctly. Light upwards perfectly.  True, but you best read and understand all the "Important Points", which are really well explained, but are hard to understand when they would be important or what would happen if y'all weren't to follow them.  Hopefully, I have cleared up those concerns.

User Manual

The full User Manual does a good task explaining what'south in the bundle and each part'south purpose.  However, the "Installation Steps" section is woefully inadequate, instead yous should follow the start 2 documents for the installation.

The residual of the User Manual vaguely explains the remote control, the LED Strip Controller Module, a Troubleshooting section and the App.

Fortunately, the Remote Control is mostly Sesame Street uncomplicated.  I won't endeavour to explain it considering aside from the Sesame Street buttons, the remote is something of a mystery to me – not that it matters, the lights function simply great with the buttons that I understand.

I have not need for the App, only more than 50% of the manual is dedicated to the App.

What Could be Improve?

• The record is strong plenty to stick the lights strips to a ceiling, but a little too strong for walls, imo.  Be careful removing it from your walls or yous may remove more than than simply the tape.  Search Google for safe tape removal.
• The remote has more functions than information technology probably needs, and it's fun taking time to learn what they all do, across the basics.

Summary

• After yous get your caput around the install, the lights are pretty cool.
• Installation took about 45-60 minutes including fumbling around with reading directions, fumbling effectually with measurements and putting these up on iii sides of walls.
• NEXillumi clearly states to contact them with any problems. Which I did.  They were prompt in sending me replacement parts.  I recollect that is worth mentioning, because that makes information technology pretty clear that for the toll, you will go a working product.
• The colors are plentiful, if not 100% colour accurate, and they are really bright at their maximum setting, considering how small-scale the actual LEDs are.  I utilise these late at night when filming my YouTube videos and often I have to turn them down because they are likewise bright for my optics!
• The music way via the remote control uses the microphone on the Strip Controller and information technology's pretty fun, changing colors and blinking lights to the beat of the music.
• The remote control works fine for decision-making the lights.
